Well I don’t know why my previous theme : POLO could not show proper sidebar and I don’t really know the reason. I finally decided to change the theme after the problem above arose.

This theme looks simpler and cleaner than previous theme. So enjoy the new theme.

White house email server’s down

Well this is a fantastic news, the unimaginable sacred white house suffers email server meltdown.

Excerpt from CNN :

President Obama has his blackberry — but his tech-savvy press operation has been without e-mail for most of the day, and it’s not yet clear when they’ll get it back.

Obama press staffers had just made the leap to their official White House e-mail addresses Monday morning when the Outlook server went down. They weren’t the only ones affected by the crash, which also hit the first lady’s office and other White House offices.

So basically we need to learn from this, this proprietary mail server (they call exchange server) has nothing special than the free and open source mail server. The free and open source mail server has been proved be able to serve at high performance with smaller costs and better security (I am not saying it is bug free, but at least it is easily patched and traced). I think Windows is not suitable for server operating system and I think it will remains like this for another ten years from now (except Microsoft does a revolutionary change on NT core). So, the UNIX or *NIX OS be happy! This occasion is a good change to campaign against Microsoft products for server.

The time of UNIX or *NIX to reign their place in this computing world.

Banggalah sama produk-produk kita sendiri!.

Why Engineers Earn Less Salary Compared to Sales n Marketing Guys

Filed under: Misc — Tags: — fandigunawan @ 4:07 pm

Dilbert’s Theorem on Salary states that engineers and scientists never earn as much salary as business executives, sales people & Management guys.

This theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the
following three postulates:

  • Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power (Knowledge=Power)
  • Postulate 2: Time is Money (Time=Money)
  • Postulate 3 (as every engineer knows): Power = Work/Time

Celebrating the 4000th Hits

Filed under: Misc — Tags: — fandigunawan @ 3:16 pm

Noname I am really happy this time to celebrate 4000th hits of my weblog. My weblog is available since May 2007 hosted in This weblog is in evolution process to get the best form I can achieve.  I don’t expect the progress this fast. With this progress, I will continue writing something useful for all of you readers. Once more thank you for your supports.

FYI, the next celebration will be at 8000th hits. (The first celebration was at 2000th hits, the next will be at 8000th hits … 16000hits). My weblog status uses term “bit” for every single hit gathered. The main reason why I chose bit is that in my field, Electrical Engineering the lowest digital unit is bit (binary digit).
